Hi, I’m Roger Windemuth, and this is my blog. Two of the things I really enjoy doing is birding and photography, and most of the time I try to do them together. When I go birding I always take my camera and when I go to shoot pictures, my binoculars are not far away. The marriage of these two activities is photographing birds and you will find that most of the photographs in this blog are just that–photographs of birds. By the way, all of the pictures in this blog, including the headings, are pictures that I have taken. If you are interested in purchasing any of them, see below.
Much of my birding and photography is done close to home at Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. Since my retirement six years ago, I have volunteered at the refuge. I also write a monthly article for the Friends of the Refuge Newsletter called “Roger’s Refuge Ramblings.” These ramblings form the basis for this blog as many of those articles are posted here as Refuge Ramblings. In this blog, though, I also will be including ramblings about other places besides the refuge. I will be posting pictures with the ramblings and will also be putting a number of pictures from the refuge and other places in the picture galleries.
In my former life I was a school administrator and I enjoyed that at the time. But now in my retirement I have focused more on my long-standing hobbies of birding and photography, hobbies I have pursued for over 30 years. My hope is that you will enjoy the “ramblings” and the photography. If you especially enjoy the photography, you might want to take a look at my website, Lumiscape Photography. At that site you will be able to purchase any of the pictures you see there along with any you might have seen on this blog.
